Our Story

We welcome you to this new season in the life of God’s church! First Baptist Fort O began as a small church plant in February of 1952, when a mission team from a nearby church came to Fort Oglethorpe and began meeting in a church bus on Forrest Road. The goal was to share the gospel with the people who did not have a church home and see lives changed for the glory of God.

The mission team grew as new people joined with them in the power of the Holy Spirit. The team moved into the old Fire Hall in Fort O and eventually acquired property to develop their own campus. By 1953, the team had become First Baptist Fort O and had begun building a Worship Center and bible study rooms at 2645 LaFayette Road.

Over the years, God has blessed our church family with steady growth and additions to our church campus. With these additions, our mission remains the same: To lead more and more people into a life-changing relationship with God through personal faith in Jesus Christ!
