Emergency Plan
Adopted March 21, 2021
Get Out: If fire, gas leak, etc. inside the building
- Contact Security or Welcome Desk to spread word via radio.
- Leave the building via the nearest exit. Do not use elevators.
- Call 911. Give the location first, then ask for an emergency response.
- Gather in the horseshoe area off Gilbert Drive.
- Escorts identified by yellow sashes will assist those in their area of responsibility.
- Children will be brought to the gathering area by their teachers. Parents please do not go toward the children’s building.
Get Down: If tornado, storm, etc. outside the building
- Go to the safest part of the building, downstairs in the Fellowship Circle toward the classroom by the gym. Do not use elevators.
- Escorts identified by yellow sashes will assist those in their area of responsibility.
- Children will be brought to the gathering area by their teachers. Parents please do not go toward the children’s building.
Get Help: If someone is ill or injured on campus
- Call 911. Give the location first, then ask for a medical response.
- Contact a Security Team member or the Welcome Desk to radio our on-call in-house medical assistance.
- Provide first aid within your training and ability.
Get Away: If a violent intruder is attacking on campus
- Assume any loud sharp sound is gunfire – not a balloon popping or a firecracker or a car backfiring.
- Contact Security or the Welcome Desk to spread word via radio.
- Move away from the commotion. Don’t go to see what is happening.
- Leave the building if possible. Don’t go to cars, though (risk of secondary car bombs).
- Barricade behind a blocked door with lights and sounds off.
- Fight. If unable to avoid a life-threatening intruder, be prepared to fight together with whatever weapons are available. Anything that distracts, blinds, or hurts the intruder will help disrupt their plans.
